The History of Video Games: A Look Back at Atari and More

This holiday season many children will open a new PlayStation 3, Wii and X-box 360 with Kinect and play the most impressive games graphically created, with everything from handheld devices to their own bodies as controllers.

I've been playing for over 25 years, so remember the early days of Atari and Nintendo. For this reason, I thought I would take a retrospective look at the technology of the past so we can appreciate this technology.

Atari: Who remembers with a screwdriver to connect the Atari to the TV? This was before the days of red, white and yellow inputs A / V. I still remember sitting in my parents' bed to start playing for hours. The sound effects is followed by a beep boop and then another tone. Fortunately, sometimes crazy. Space Invaders, Combat, and a plethora of other classic games that anyone over 30 remembers. The graphics was as different blocks, and controllers had one button.

8-bit machines: I like to call this the golden age of gaming. Nintendo released the Nintendo Entertainment System, along with a little Italian plumber named Mario bent on saving Princess Toadstool from the evil clutches of Bowser. Some of you may remember Robbie the robot, which could be controlled to play a game called gyroscope. Yes, nobody else does either.

The Legacy of “Tron”: Bringing a New Face to Gaming

In was only a morning when the original "Tron" was released in 1982, but I was mesmerized by the amazing graphics and special effects. Has cycles of action and light, and it was computers, something that not many films were doing at the time.

Almost 30 years later, the much anticipated sequel to the film opens today, and the video game Tron: Evolution is already in the stories. It made me think of when "Tron" came first and the arcade game that was developed to follow the film. I frequented a lot of room then, and that game got me hooked more than Donkey Kong or Pac Man

Perhaps most fun of all was that it was four games in one. It was not just the same game over and over again with perhaps a new enemy ground or faster, there were four completely different games. While they pale in comparison to Mario Party and carnival games today, then, was unheard of.

Everyone had their favorite game, and could not stand, but played anyway because it was the only way to win the game. The arcade game featured black lights and fluorescent lights, and only looked great on the arcade floor.

Remember that the 80 arches were not like the arcades of today. They were strong and dark and filled to the brim with people. For teenagers and young adults, the gallery was the only place to go play cheaper. All I needed was a few dollars in quarters.

Yahoo! Cuts Back Workforce and Eliminates a Program

I remember the days before Google, when you went to Yahoo! if you wanted to find something online. Yahoo was going to a place for everything. You may receive e-mail, news and more, all in one place, and we loved it.

When Google first emerged, it became a battle between the two sites for supremacy, and after a few years, Yahoo settled for second place and seemed happy. Google came out with all its extras, such as documents, maps, etc, and Yahoo set its site, adding music videos and other extras, but could never beat Google.

Recently, Yahoo felt the pinch of tight economy and released on 4 percent of its workforce, in addition to dropping Buzz, Delicious and AltaVista. Buzz I totally can understand because he never did take off and become what the developers wanted it to be. AltaVista, AltaVista still remember? The surprise cut was the social bookmarking site Delicious.

Delicious was created in 2003 as a separate entity, but was acquired by Yahoo in 2005. While it remains a favorite bookmarks, traffic has been a steady decline since 2005, as a number of social bookmarking sites began to sprout, and the thrill of scoring began to disappear.

Once Upon a Christmas Gadget Memory

I've always been the smart family at least when it comes to gadgets. All my life, whenever my family would have something electronic, a microwave oven to a video or surround sound system was always my job to configure. Electronics have always been my gift of choice, and I could not help myself trying to understand the present before Christmas.

As I got a little older, I became more astute in my gift to guess. I was down at night and take a look in the corner of wrapping paper, then I lift the tape and eventually finished just open this and repackaging it.

The first year I ventured to develop this work was the year they had asked and begged for Sega Genesis for Christmas. This was Sega's foray into the genre of 16-bit games and comes with the game Altered Beast, which was my favorite above all others in the gallery.

In mid-December, and had taken to the corner and realized that Genesis was mine, but I could not stop. I was so excited to get one night I ended up opening the present to see the whole box and read everything about the system and games.

Time to wrap the present again and I delighted with how smart he was. I had seen to my present and there was no wiser. Unfortunately, I did not realize how complicated it would be to wrap a gift when he was 7 years old. No matter what I did, I could not get to see well. That was bad. Finally, I ended up pushing all the paper in the box for the flat top and wrapped it seemed fine, but the bottom was a disaster. I just prayed that nobody move the box before Christmas

Electronic Cigarettes: Healthy Choice or Risky New Addiction?

One day, while walking to my local gas station, I saw a big sign in the window with electronic cigarettes. These stop smoking aids newest allow users to mimic the act of smoking, nicotine and inhaling steam to expel a snuff as smoke.

I've never been much of a smoker I've seen many of my family members suffering from addiction and health problems that comes from him. Many smokers try to quit at some point in their lives, often several times, and can not seem to break free of addiction.

It was not the nicotine gum, nicotine patch medication, and now the electronic cigarette. I did a little research, and there are many brands and a starter pack of a cigarette, charger and nicotine vapor cartridges all cost between $ 60 and $ 100, which is an important initial investment. The cartridges are approximately equivalent to two packs a standard, and over time, which seems to constitute a savings, because the cartridges are cheaper.

Proponents say the e-cig is a safer alternative to smoking, because you get nicotine as the gum and the patch, no other poisons that are present in standard cigarettes. They also say that smoking is just as important a part of the experience of smoking such as nicotine and the electronic cigarette helps give people that.
